He added: “The initiative includes a set of challenges and regular sports competitions, in order to provide a happy, healthy and productive work environment for employees, and to establish healthy living concepts, and encourage them to follow this type of lifestyle and strengthen their fitness by participating in these challenges continuously throughout the year, starting with the first challenge, Dubai Fitness Challenge 30X30, followed by the implementation of other challenges such as Challenge Your Health in a Step, Your Health in Minutes and Climb to the Top Challenge.”
“The initiative aims to encourage all male and female employees to play sports and participate in competitive events that support healthy living quality, away from the usual routine and activate the bodies and minds of the participants. This will positively affect the outcome and results of their work performance and make them feel happy and belong to the place where they work,” said Mona Malik, Director of the Executive Team of Happiness and Quality of Life at Dubai Municipality.
“This initiative has been prepared in collaboration between the Executive Team of Happiness and Quality of Life in the Municipality and the Dubai Municipality Club. All the employees of the Municipality have already been asked to participate in this initiative by registering themselves and we have already got 400 participants in the first stage of registration and after that whoever wishes to join the initiative will be kept in waiting list,” she added.
The initiative includes providing a wrist band (Fitbit Fitness Tracker) for each participant and an internal system to track the sports activity of the participants (both genders) in the challenges, which will be announced later by linking the sports bracelet with the internal system to measure the sports effort exerted. Winners will be announced at the end of each challenge and honored by the Director General.
Employees who have not been able to participate can follow the challenges and competitions by downloading the Fitbit App and accessing Dubai Municipality’s page where employees can share their photos, their impressions and performance.
